Historical Markers in Chickasaw County and Calhoun County

Chickasaw County is named for the Chickasaw Indians who lived in north Mississippi for hundreds of years. Most were removed to Indian Territory in present-day Oklahoma in the 1830s.  Calhoun County is named after John C. Calhoun, the U.S. Vice President and U.S. Senator from South Carolina.
