Historical Markers in Leake County and Scott County

Leake County is named for Walter Leake, one of Mississippi's first two U.S. Senators in 1817. He was also governor of Mississippi from 1822 to 1825.  Abram M. Scott, the namesake of Scott County, was governor of Mississippi from 1832 to 1833.
